Following talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to reset bilateral relations, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu met with several Bollywood personalities during his two-day visit to Mumbai.

His trip to India focuses on exploring investment opportunities in tourism, real estate, and infrastructure.

He also invited filmmakers to shoot movies and TV shows in the Maldives.

Muizzu arrived in Mumbai from Agra on Tuesday and conducted business meetings at a five-star hotel in South Mumbai, where he is staying with his wife, Sajidha Mohamed, and a high-level official delegation.

In the evening, Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan hosted a dinner for Muizzu at Raj Bhavan, attended by various dignitaries.

During his visit, he also highlighted Mumbai's potential as India's economic hub and discussed the Vision Document adopted by India and the Maldives to strengthen bilateral ties.

He expressed his interest in inviting directors and producers to film in the Maldives and explore options for shooting television series there.

Among the Bollywood celebrities he met were Shilpa Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha, and Arbaaz Khan.

Governor Radhakrishnan emphasised the Maldives as a vital partner for India in the Indian Ocean region, noting their long-standing cultural, economic, and trade connections.

He assured Muizzu that he would invite Bollywood directors and producers to a meeting to encourage them to consider the Maldives for their film projects.
